PinkSlipMixers Super Tuesday Job Networking Events

Even though I have less than $200 in my bank account and the EDD cut off my unemployment benefits for the dumbest reason (stupid State of California), I want make the best networking events for all of us before I go insane.

Here is the deal… I’m going to host the start of the best free pink slip party events you have ever seen from a broke-ass dude living with his parents. I need you to come to support your community and just maybe someone in our community will help you find a job. I can’t help you unless you come.

This is what I… NO… WE are going to do.

Super Tuesday May 26th:

DAYTIME: We will have iT Jean’s GIFT Movement Hope RV come to our daytime networking event in Hermosa Beach at 1 PM. Not only are we going to figure out how to make social media work for us, iT Jeans will pass out little goodies for our networking group. It will not be the boutique jeans that made our booties look good, but something bootielicious tastey. They are also bringing a fashion consultant to give us tips on how to dress in a professional manner. Bring your lap top because I’m going to force you to learn how to twitter. Follow me and the GIFT Movement at twitter.com/pinkslipped and twitter.com/pinkGIFT. Register to the event so we know how many goodies to bring. If you dont register, you dont get what we are going to give. The job search event will be at Pacuigo Gelato in Hermosa Beach. RSVP by going to http://ping.fm/zHE0n

NIGHTTIME:
I’ve arranged a program you wont believe. I’ve dug into my bag of tricks from my days of pumping iron and know just what you need to tune up. If you’ve done circuit training, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s OUR Career Circuit Training. You will have 2 minutes to sharpen your skill at 3 to 5 different stations.

Station One: Being in transition – improve your job search

Station Two: Improve Your Resume

Station Three: Improve Your Pitch

Station Four: Improve Your Follow Up After Your Interview

Yes, you only have 2 minutes with our career counselors. You better make the most of it because its a tough world and YOU DONT HAVE TIME TO MESS IT UP.

I’ll have a list of the speakers on the site, so if god isnt my witness you better RSVP or else. The nighttime event will be at Hotel Palomar in Westwood and starts at 6PM. BE EARLY because I cant stand Flakey LA! RSVP by visiting http://ping.fm/JbCwG

I
know a few of you think the economy is getting better… maybe. This is not the time to sit around and wait for a job to come to you. Let’s help one another find jobs for each other. Come to our events, network with people and do your best to tell our members about jobs they might have a chance to get. Remember if we band together, we get through this. DO NOT THINK ABOUT YOURSELF AND PAY IT FORWARD.

Tell your friends about our site. We are going to do these events all over the country but I need you to tell your friends. I dont have a marketing budget but I’m hoping you will help spread the word.

If you are not in Southern California, please register and keep forwarding the PinkSlipMixers.com site. I’ll do my best to find a way to get to your city.

Call me if you have any questions at 310-406-7992.

LA Live's ESPN Zone and small grass roots organization initiates Obama's call for volunteerism to help stimulate Southern California's job market

LOS ANGELES, CA - May 16, 2009 – PinkSlipMixers.com is a grass-roots organization of unemployed professionals that provides unique “pink slip party” networking events. This worthwhile organization is paying it forward to the community with the help of Los Angeles’ newest hotspot, the ESPN Zone @ L.A. LIVE. By actively addressing the national leadership’s call to volunteerism by reaching out to job seekers and hiring companies alike, the hope is that this partnership will lend to Southern California getting through these challenging economic times. ESPN Zone will be co-hosting monthly interactive job search events every first Wednesday of the month until the recession is over, with the first job networking event taking place on Wednesday June 3, 2009 from 6-8 pm.

Nestled inside the L.A. LIVE campus and only a few months old, the ESPN Zone @ L.A. LIVE has already seen success in and acceptance from the community. With the immeasurable influence of the local sports franchises like the Lakers, Dodgers, Clippers and others, the ESPN Zone @ L.A. LIVE sees the Southern California region as their community teammate. Tim Whiteman, marketing manager for the ESPN Zone @ L.A. LIVE, says, “Even though we have only opened our doors a few months ago, we appreciate L.A. welcoming us to the sports & entertainment landscape. Right now, Los Angeles and Southern California need us to be leaders and help folks get back on their feet. Last month, we were approached by PinkSlipMixers.com and they indicated their strong efforts to help stimulate our local job market. With our unique multifunctional venue as well as media contacts, we can help Southern California's unemployed to get through these challenging economic times and find work for one another. We want the support of the community and by paying it forward today, we think the community at large will continue to support our venue in the years to come. If we can provide access for job seekers and hiring companies to communicate with each other face-to-face, maybe they will find their next job or at the very least interact with others during their job search. We feel it is the right thing to do to help revitalize our local job market.”

The PinkSlipMixers.com event is more than the typical pink slip party, a popular and growing trend around the country. Job seekers at PinkSlipMixer events utilize online social media to “Twitter” career criteria along with their Linkedin.com resume in hopes of maximizing their job search exposure. Edwin Duterte, the creator of PinkSlipMixers.com, explains, “ESPN Zone is a great venue for our job seekers. They have several video screens that we will project Twitter-feeds. Our guests will be posting what other guests are looking for professionally and what recruiters attending want in an employee. For instance, a job seeker talking to a hiring manager might twitter post using her cell phone 'Recruiter Jon wearing the striped shirt is looking for a product manager'. Guests in the mixer will see that on the video screens and hopefully other job seekers looking for that type of position will find Jon to discuss a possible fit.”

In addition to merging the online and offline communities, PinkSlipMixers will be making the job search mixer experience more interactive and specialized than any other typical pink slip party. Edwin Duterte says, “We not only want to have our professionals interact with one another, but we want to make it personal to them. We will have at least a dozen different industry tables where our guests can congregate and mingle with professionals specific to their job focus. Also, we will have a 'speed career circuit' whereby we will have experts in various job search stations, such as resume critique, interview skills, and etc., to offer free job search tips to our PinkSlipMixers.com members. This is not a job fair but a volunteer supported community that every member wants to pitch in to help each other find work. It will be very exciting to see everyone helping each other in a positive way.”

As previously mentioned, the next PinkSlipMixers.com event will be June 3, 2009 starting at 6 PM and will be held every first Wednesday of every month. The ESPN Zone @ L.A. LIVE is located at:
1011 S. Figueroa Street, Suite B-101

(right across the street from Staples Center)
