14.8 Million Americans in Personal Economic Depression Despite Government Reporting

14.8 Million Americans In Economic Depression, Despite Government Statistics

February 7, 2010 – The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday the national unemployment rate decreased from 10% to 9.7%. Although economic staffs to President Obama and members of the US Congress feel this is an improvement to the current recession, over 14 million Americans disagree and are dealing with their own individual Economic Depression.

PinkSlipMixers.com, a volunteer-based community-supported organization to help professionals find work, believes that American workers are tired of listening to political rhetoric about job creation. Edwin Duterte of PinkSlipMixers says, “Elected officials have good intentions to improve the quality of jobs in America. However, job creation is achieved on a local community level. Although there is an overall national employment improvement, the fact remains that over 14.8 million US workers are in their own personal economic depression.”

The organizers of PinkSlipMixers recommends that out of work Americans should remain positive and work smarter to find work. “Job seekers should not only use traditional resources and new online social media techniques to find work; they should also engage professional services, such as online sites like UpMo.com, to manage their career even beyond the current recession.”

In the month of February, PinkSlipMixers.com will host a series of job search networking events throughout California (February 18th in Fremont, February 22 in Pleasanton, February 23 in Palo Alto and February 24 in Pasadena). The attendees are primarily mid- to upper- level professionals who are looking for work. We also invite local hiring companies and small businesses. Industries that will be represented include, but not limited to, Healthcare, Real Estate, Banking, Insurance, Engineering, Entertainment, Manufacturing and Academia. We are expecting over 150+ job seekers and dozens of hiring companies in attendance for each event.

Representatives from PinkSlipMixers, Job Seekers and Hiring Managers will be available for comment to the media before, during and after each mixer.
